wastewater treatment aeration

The initial contact between Tsurumi/Pumpen Lechner and the municipal wastewater treatment station Hallau (ARA) in Switzerland was established at IFAT exhibition in 2018. The ARA Hallau is using R&O submersible aerators in their combined flotation and sand removal units and the customer was looking for alternatives to the R&O units as they are not satisfied with the products. One further goal was the decrease of the power uptake of the used units as the R&O products are supplied with 3 kW motors (rated power).

The problem

The installed aerators of a competitor did not perform well in the application. The size of bubbles had a negative effect on the process. Furthermore, the power consumption seemed a bit high.

The solution

50TRN42.2 equipped with 60Hz hydraulics to reduce the size of the generated air-bubbles in order to achieve a better flotation effect. Furthermore, the smaller motor size of the Tsurumi aerator achieved an energy saving of 7.008 kW per year!

Specifications TRN

In the event of abrasive and corrosive utilization, stronger wear and tear will take place naturally in certain components. With regards to the above application wear and tear can take place mainly in impeller, agitator, suction plate, shaft sleeve, oil ring, mechanical seal, pump casing, strainer, motor casing and discharge coupling. Depending on the working conditions the lifetime of those parts might vary significantly and can be shorter than the legal warranty period.
