Ash from the recycling process is stored on the premises of a steel recycling company. Recycled water is used to cool the ash. This drainage water must be sprayed in large quantities onto the hot ash via a sprinkler system. The sprinkler system itself operates at a system pressure of 3 to 4 bar.
In the process of steel recylcing a lot of hot ash is produced which needs to cooled constantly. On site this is done with recylced water from the process. Challenge in this particular application was that few pumps had to provide a lot pressure to ensure constant water supply/cooling of the hot ash. Which pumps are capable of providing this water pressure reliably, permanently, fail-safe and economically?
LHW series with its unique double impeller provides extra pressure in combination with an excellent lifetime. With their motorisation of 11 to 30 kW, they generate pressure of 8 to 12 bar. This means that the required lower pressures are of course no problem.
In the event of abrasive and corrosive utilization, stronger wear and tear will take place naturally in certain components. With regards to the above application wear and tear can take place mainly in impeller, agitator, suction plate, shaft sleeve, oil ring, mechanical seal, pump casing, strainer, motor casing and discharge coupling. Depending on the working conditions the lifetime of those parts might vary significantly and can be shorter than the legal warranty period.
