Ore Production Process

Images

In Sweden, a company had issues in one its main production processes: heating extracted ore to extremely high temperatures, just shy of its melting point. Following this heating process, the ore undergoes cooling. During the process residual water needs to be pumped which can be a challenge as well. The temperature of the residual water reaches up to 60 degrees celcius. As an added hardship the water is also loaded with abrasive ore particles.

The problem

The primary challenge at this stage lies in efficiently transferring the residual water, which reaches temperatures of up to 60°C, along with remnants of the abrasive ore particles. Other manufacturer´s pumps lasted in the process only days.

The solution

Tsurumi heavy duty KTZ615 drainage pumps are by design suitable for abrasive applications. The longevity of Tsurumi pumps reduced the need for maitenance and repairs, hence the whole process was improved in terms of efficiency and reliability.

In the event of abrasive and corrosive utilization, stronger wear and tear will take place naturally in certain components. With regards to the above application wear and tear can take place mainly in impeller, agitator, suction plate, shaft sleeve, oil ring, mechanical seal, pump casing, strainer, motor casing and discharge coupling. Depending on the working conditions the lifetime of those parts might vary significantly and can be shorter than the legal warranty period.
